JW Marriott Chicago
January 28, 2019
Recently completed an overnight stay at the JW Marriott in Downtown Chicago. This hotel was very nice and had a lot of great features and decor. A few days prior to check in, I attempted to use one of my available Suite Night award credits to upgrade the room. The next day I got a message saying the upgrade was declined based on availability for the hotel. Not a big deal since the stay was only one night, and I booked a king room.
I also am currently Platinum status with Marriott so I get executive floor rooms and lounge access. The night of the stay, I checked in using the Marriott Mobile app and told them I would arrive around 11:00 PM. At that time, we arrived at the hotel and went to the front desk. I was apologized to for not behind able to use my suite night awards but was then told since I am platinum, the hotel upgraded me to a suite anyway. The front desk agent also asked if we were celebrating anything, and i said my Wife’s Birthday. He said happy birthday and asked if he could send a complimentary bottle of wine up the room.
We arrived at our room, the “Adams” suite on the 12th floor. A few moments later there was a knock at the door. The front desk agent sent up a bottle of wine and a cake to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
The Adams suite featured a living room, bedroom, walk in closet, a half bath and a full bath.
The only issue we ran into was the next morning, we discovered that the main elevators were out of order so we had to use to a staff elevator. Not a big deal.
There is also a good lounge that provided breakfast in the morning with plenty of seating.
