Sheraton Orlando North Hotel

After my few days over at the Gayloard Palms Resort, I went over to the Sheraton Orlando North. This hotel is located outside of the tourist areas and is catered more to business travelers. It is located north of Orlando in a town called Maitland. If you are planing on doing the theme parks, this hotel may be a bit far for you, however if you are looking for a hotel that’s away from it all but still easy to get places, this is a place you should look at staying.

The hotel features self and valet park. I opted for the self park. The parking lot was nice and big and had plenty of spots to chose from. There was also a 2nd parking lot dedicated to the convention space at the hotel. Once parked, I entered the hotel and went to the front desk. The front desk agent was very nice and helpful. She asked why I was in town and about my day in a way that did not seam scripted. After a brief chat, she sent me on my way and told me that I was upgraded to a suite. She also informed me that the Club level floor and lounge were closed for renovations. She offered me free breakfast vouchers for the hotels buffet breakfast as a compensation.

I headed up the elevator to the 3rd floor and found my way to my room. When I entered the room it was very dark, and even Turing on light switches did not help. It took a few minutes to go around the room and turn on all the lamps to get some light in the room.

The living room are was very large and had a good size dining table. The furniture did look very used and abused as well as it was covered in stains. It featured a desk, table with 5 chairs, couch, tv and a few lounge chairs too.

The bedroom featured a large bed that was very comfy. Oversized pillows and nice soft sheets. The room did lack in dresser space as on the tv stand, only 4 of the 6 drawers opened. The bedroom also featured a small table and two more lounge chairs.

Off to the side of the bedroom was a bathroom and had a large bathtub with jets, walk in shower and two sinks. The water pressure was good and had a good temperature too. My only complaint about the shower was how low the shower head was mounted. It looks like this room is set up to be wheel chair accessible too.

Off of the living room was a nice sized balcony, but since it was on the 3rd floor and faced the entry way of the hotel, it was a little noisy to actually use. There was two chairs out there for relaxing.

Outside, there was a good size pool and a spa with waterfall.

The room did need some maintenance however, as you can see from the photos below. There were stains on the furniture, the old style air conditioning units were very noisy, too many lamps that needed to be manually turned on, and some possible electrical safety hazards under the couch. The TV lift in the bedroom did not work as well.

I will tell you that the hotel is under remodel right now and I believe this room is on a floor that has not been renovated yet. Hopefully these issues can be resolve with the renovations.
